When’s the Best Time for a Financial Advisor to Change Firms?

I get this a lot: “Is there a best time of year for a financial advisor to change firms?”

Holidays, summer vacations, tax season, billing cycles, and bonus payments can all affect the timing. In this vid I explain why none of them create a universally perfect transition date.

The stronger question is whether you and your team are prepared to execute. Advisors can control the following before a move: Meeting with clients, planning launch communications, mapping investments with the receiving firm, getting legal guidance, and learning from advisors who have made similar transitions. I also discuss the timing details worth checking before choosing a date.

If you’re considering a broker-dealer change or a move to independence, these questions can help you compare firms with more clarity.

I hope this helps. Thanks for watching!
